Alabama vs. Auburn: How to Decorate Your Party & Tailgate 7
Nov 2018

Hey y’all! It’s almost that time of year again. Nope, not fall. Not Thanksgiving. It’s…

…the Auburn vs. Alabama rivalry game!

Did the title give it away? 😉

What are your plans for the big game? Will you be tailgating it with the family? Hosting a viewing party at home? Still deciding whether to invite the whole block over?

Whatever adventures await you, we’ve got some great ideas to help you STYLE the event of the season!

If you haven’t realized from all my Facebook and Instagram videos, fabrics have a special place in my heart. I love how their unique character brightens rooms and spaces!

Did you know fabrics can do the same for your tailgate or game-viewing party??

They sure can. Whether you’re celebrating at home or in an outdoor lot, adding team-inspired fabrics to the scene will elevate the experience, impress your fellow fans, and make people remember your special touch!

Here’s how…

How to Use Team Fabrics in Your Tailgate Decor

Table Runners:
Indoors or out, I just love the look of table runners. They’re simple but they add a ton of character to a table space, especially the plain old white fold-out tables we often use at tailgates.

You can have a custom table runner made, or simply fold some fabric to your desired dimensions — and there you go!

Table Skirts: I like to think of table skirts as the cocktail dresses of the event world. They add that extra element of class and team pride. They say, “This is why we’re here!” After all, if you’re going to host an event for the big game, why not go all out?

Napkins: Cloth napkins are HIGHLY underrated. Not only do they make any event more special, but if you’ve got a windy day on your hands, there’s a smaller chance of them tumbleweed-ing across the tailgate grounds!

Give guests cloth napkins to use in your team’s colors. (Or in your rival’s colors… I bet they’ll be even dirtier after!) Added benefit? You can also use these napkins under serving dishes or other goodies you have laid out. Win-win!

Pillows: This option is for the indoor pre-gamers and fans… Pillows! We especially love houndstooth patterns here, because it’s easier to match them to your decor. For example:

See how these colors are slightly off the true Auburn orange and blue? Opting for softer colors can help you keep the pillows more in line with your interior decor. Same with ‘Bama’s colors:

Psst! If you want some custom pillows made for the event, reach out to us now so we can finish them in time!

The “Tailgate” in Tailgating: If your pre-game celebration is really a tailgate — of your SUV or truck, I mean — lay some fabric down, spread your humble offerings across it, and pretend it’s a table.

Instead of simple truck bed, your tailgate will be a beacon that calls to your fellow fans!

Spicing Up Your Tent: Will you be “tailgate-camping” under a pop-up tent this year? If so, I bet that E-Z Up could use some loving! My favorite way to glam up tent decor is to decorate the corners of the tent with fabric, like this one!

3 Extra Ideas for Hosting Your Next Football Event

Okay, I couldn’t resist. I know these ideas aren’t fabric-specific, but if we’re talking tailgating, why not share them with you??

Placemats: I love this clever idea I found on Amy’s Party Ideas — astroturf cut into squares for placemats! If you’re hosting at home, kids and adults alike will LOVE this.

Football Vase: The creator of this vase, Brittany Young, calls this “Centerpiece in a Snap,” and I love it so much I won’t even try to come up with a cuter name. Just look at it!

Corn Hole: Let’s be honest… it wouldn’t be a tailgate without corn hole, would it?? Nope, no it wouldn’t. 🙂

Inside or outside, I love having corn hole set up with the team colors. (Or have one set of bean bags in your rival’s colors!) Get a friendly battle underway BEFORE the main event!

Okay, that’s it for now, but I hope these ideas have inspired you and gotten you in the spirit.

If you need some fabric to DIY or want us to whip something up for you, just give us a call. We’re always happy to help… even if we’re on opposites sides of this rivalry. 😉
